Restart or reset a gateway
From a gateway's detail page:
- Restart — reboots the gateway. Useful after wiring changes or if it's misbehaving. Emits
gateway/restart(orgateway/restart/failed). - Reset configuration — clears its device/sensor configuration so it re-syncs from Synacl. Emits
gateway/reset-config(orgateway/reset-config/failed).
A restart keeps Wi-Fi and identity; a config reset only clears the sensor/pin setup, not the firmware. For a clean slate, reset config then re-add devices.
Deleting a gateway
Deleting a gateway removes it and its MQTT credentials, and can't be undone.
- Its devices are not deleted unless you choose to. If the gateway still has devices, you're told how many and get two choices:
- Cancel (the default): move each device to another gateway (open the device → Edit → gateway) or delete it, then delete the gateway. Replacing the hardware? Register the new gateway and move the devices to it first; they keep their history.
- Delete gateway and its N devices: type the gateway's name to confirm. Their data history is erased and cannot be recovered. Rules and macros that use them are switched off. Needs the Delete devices permission as well as Delete gateways.
- Macros that run on the gateway, and rules that trigger on its online/offline events, are kept but switched off; a
system/messageevent in Events names them. - Gateways that reported through it are kept and become top-level gateways.
Through the API, DELETE /gateway/:id?cascade=devices does the same as the second choice (and needs the same two permissions).
