IoT platform glossary: devices, gateways, tags, telemetry, events and alerts
- Device — a single sensor/actuator source. Connects directly (MQTT) or via a gateway.
- Gateway — field hardware that bridges local sensors (RS485/Modbus/GPIO/I²C) to Synacl.
- Tag (parameter) — one named measurement on a device (e.g.
temperature). Widgets bind to tags. - Telemetry — the stream of numeric measurements. Drives charts; retained per your plan.
- Event — a discrete fact (
device/online,device/offline, faults, system notices). Shown in the Events feed. - Alert — an event produced by one of your rules when a threshold is crossed.
- Tenant — your isolated account space. Your devices, dashboards, and data are scoped to it.
- Plan — the tier that sets your limits (devices, publish rate, storage, retention, rules).
